Shape the Future of Sport in Wales: Join the Welsh Fencing Board
Welsh Fencing is expanding, and we are looking for passionate, driven individuals to help guide and support our Board. You don’t need to know your epee from your foil, or have ever stepped onto a fencing piste—we are far more interested in your skills, enthusiasm, and fresh perspectives than your knowledge of our sport.
If you want to make a tangible impact on community sport, governance, and athlete well-being across Wales, we want to hear from you.
These roles will initially be appointed to the Board, with a tenure of 1 year. Following that, there is an opportunity to join the Board as a fully elected member.
Why Join Us?
Welsh Fencing is the National Governing Body responsible for driving the growth, accessibility, and success of fencing in Wales. From supporting grassroots clubs to nurturing elite athletic talent, our mission is to make sport safe, inclusive, and engaging for everyone.
By joining our support network, you’ll work alongside a dedicated team, gain valuable board-level experience, and help shape the strategic direction of a growing national sport.
Key Roles We Are Recruiting For
We are currently seeking individuals to support the Board in two crucial areas:
1. Communications & Marketing
Help us tell our story and connect with communities across Wales.
- What you'll do: Help develop and execute modern communication strategies, oversee digital content, elevate our brand presence, and engage both existing members and new audiences.
- Who you are: A creative communicator, digital marketer, PR professional, or content enthusiast with a knack for storytelling and engagement.
2. Safeguarding & Welfare
Ensure our sport remains a safe, welcoming, and empowering environment for all participants.
- What you'll do: Provide advice on welfare policies, help ensure compliance with national standards, and champion best practices in safeguarding across clubs and events.
- Who you are: Someone with experience or a strong interest in safeguarding, welfare, social work, legal compliance, or youth advocacy.
What We Are Looking For
- Enthusiasm over expertise in fencing: We have plenty of fencing experts—what we need is professional insight, new ideas, and energy.
- Commitment to inclusion: A passion for promoting diversity, equity, and participation in Welsh sport.
- Collaborative mindset: A willingness to work constructively alongside Board members, volunteers, and sport partners.
